So we’re in the midst of the Covid-19 Quarantine, and even with the 349 times my kids have asked me questions today – My husband and I still sit down for this Q&A… I kept it PG for the blog – for those of you who know him, know his humour.
- Have you ever gotten a ticket for driving?
- Yes, 2 for sure, but its been at least 10 years since my last one.
- How can you tell when you’re having a bad day?
- I’ll usually give you a heads up and let you know. Otherwise I’m usually just quiet or emotional.
- Would you rather live in a big city or on a farm?
- Big city! I’m originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary after a couple of detours – I’ve been in Calgary now since 2010.
- Are you neat or messy?
- I have my days but for the most part everything has its place in my world.
- Do you believe in life after death?
- Yes, I consider myself to be a spiritual person and I feel like we are surrounded by our loved ones.
- Do you believe in life on other planets
- No, I’m not convinced.
- What are three things you would want to have if you were stranded on an island?
- My husband and kids, tweezers, and moisturizer.
- What do you do to destress?
- Hot yoga, Saje essential oils, hot bath
- The clubs that you participated in at school?
- Nor’Westers Canoe club, Track and field, Cheerleading, Dance team
- What is one thing that you would not tolerate in a relationship?
- Lying or Cheating
- What always cheers you up?
- Shopping or watching movies
- On a scale of 1-10 how funny would you say you are?
- My husband thinks I’m a solid 6. I’d agree, but its a sneaky funny – it comes out when you least expect it.
- Whats the worst thing you’ve eaten out of politeness?
- Sardines. I went to France for a student exchange. If you ate your sardines you got to go to the discoteque. Sardines, a lot of butter, smothered onto a baguette.
- Never have you ever… Skipped a class to hang out with friends.
- Most definitely – We went to the beach.
- Never have you ever… Stalked someone on Facebook because you liked him/her.
- Guilty – I actually found my husband that way. I saw his profile picture, thought he was cute and added him as a friend. I saw him at a restaurant one lunch hour by chance and then sent him a message because it happened to be his birthday. One thing led to another and we were engaged a year after that.
- Is there one colour that you seem to really have in my closet?
- Pinks, teals and florals..
- What is the most complicated thing that you have ever tried to cook?
- “engagement chicken” – Back before I became a vegetarian, I attempted to cook for the first time for my then boyfriend. I’d never cooked a whole chicken before – needless to say it took longer than expected, came out dry, flavourless but guess who got engaged 3 weeks later?!! I’m pretty sure it was my chicken that sealed the deal.
- Favourite thing to eat?
- Pasta! Or anything vegetarian.
- Do you easily accept compliments?
- No, it actually makes me feel super uncomfortable. I generally will make up some excuse to shy away from it. Ex, I had a friend tell me my skin was glowing (who worked in dermatology!) and I said “Oh I’m sure its just my daughters food”. Case in point I’m learning to just say thank you.
- Dogs or cats?
- I love all animals but seriously – Dogs next question.
- Who do you think had the largest influence on the person you are today?
- I’d have to say my Dad. My dad inspired me to pursue my dreams, and to live life to the fullest. He always taught me if you want something in life you have to work for it. He has always remained my biggest cheerleader through life and my career. He’s been there for me when I’ve been down on the ground and lifted me back up again. He went through treatment for stage 4 tonsil cancer in 2011. He has taught me that happiness in life is everything and if you’re not happy then change it.
- Something you love about yourself?
- I love that if I want to do something I’ll just do it. I don’t have an addictive personality so negative habits aren’t a problem for me. I live a pretty healthy lifestyle – some would call my lifestyle boring but it makes me feel good.
- Where is one place you feel most like yourself?
- On a yoga mat, or doing exercise.
- Your favourite place to vacation?
- Palm Springs, Osoyoos, Chicago, LA, Maui
- The name you wish you were called as a child?
- I loved the name Erika or Jasmine
- Guilty pleasure?
- Watching movies, Bubly (snore I know), Online Shopping, Self-care
- Celebrity crush?
- Ryan Reynolds
- What gross unhygienic things do people do that bother you?
- Super easy – clipping their nails in public! WTF
- Most unusal pet peeves?
- Repetitive sounds, and don’t touch my face – unless you’re a dermatologist, aesthetician or doing my makeup.
- An embarrassing moment?
- This is funny now, but at the moment… My husband and I honeymooned in Thailand. We visited a small reef where you could stand in the water with schools of fish. Thousands of small fish. People were throwing in bread for them and they’d come swarming between your legs. Needless to say I was screaming and my husband was wearing me as a scarf. Everyone was laughing at me.

- Red Wine – Pinot Noir
- Coffee or Tea?
- Coffee is a morning necessity but I end every night with a peppermint tea.

- Dreamer or Realist?

- Glass half full or half empty?
